5. IV Breeding

Now we are gonna (ab)use the 6iv Ditto. Don't have one? I'll provide one for you via GTS in the Pokemon Breeding 3DS Facebook Group. Get a male or female Charmander with the Hidden Ability, egg moves and the right ability and give it the everstone to hold. Give Ditto the Destiny Knot and put them together in day care.

Hatch 5 eggs and take the Charmander with the right ability to the IV checker in the Pokemon center in Kiloude city. Here you are going to check if it has more IVs than the one in daycare. He will tell you what IVs are perfect (meaning 31 stat points more per stat).

You can check the icons in the Pokemon summary to remember what IVs it has. In the picture below you can see a Talonflame pic with the icons marked and it is missing the special attack IV, but he doesn't need it cause he is a physical attacker.

The icons work in the same order as the stats you see on the left: HP = circle, attack = triangle, defense = square etcetera. You have to mark the icons yourself, the game doesn't mark them automatically.

This way you will never forget the IVs a Pokemon has, cause I can't  imagine remembering all that. When you get a Charmander with the right ability and 2 or 3 perfect IVs switch it with the current one in daycare (switching the everstone as well). You will keep repeating this process until you get a Charmander with 5ivs missing either special attack or physical attack depending on what build you choose.

The more overlapping IVs the Pokemon in daycare have the more chance of passing them on to the child. It can take a while to get it right, but it's so rewarding! And you'll never know, maybe you'll get a shiny Pokemon in the process?!
